A veterinarian injects a tiny chip about the size of a rice grain in your pet just under the skin between the shoulder blades, the number on the chip is then entered into the home again batabase

When a lost pet is found,the shelter,the humane society, or an animal hospital can use a hand held microchip scanner to read the microchip id number the shelter contacts the home again database,the database matches the id number with your name and phone number,and you and your pet are together again.
